The Differential Diagnosis course spans the disciplines of medicine. This course is co-taught by DPT, MD, and PA-C. We feel it is very important that all disciplines of medicine speak the same language. This course is designed to help our profession bridge the communication gap between providers and gain insight into how an Orthopedic MD or PA-C approach the same patient that we will see. Enhance your differential diagnostic skills and gain a greater understanding of what’s important when viewing and interpreting diagnostic tests (XR, MRI, CT, etc.). It is our aim to have the physical therapy profession be held in the highest regard with in the eyes of the medical community and the public.
Focus will be on the evaluation and differential diagnosis of systemic diseases that may present as neuromusculoskeletal impairments. Orthopedic and medical evaluation will be taught as outlined by the APTA and within the scope of physical therapy practice. This course is a mixed presentation of both evidence-based lecture and hands on lab experience in orthopedic/medical evaluation.
Dress comfortably in lab attire.
Plan to bring your own stethoscope for auscultation, but please note there will be additional stethoscopes available if you forget yours. All other evaluation equipment will be provided.
No prerequisite work is required, as we will provide a complete review of each orthopedic/systemic disorder as we go. Get a firsthand look at how other medical professionals approach the same patient you will see through Direct Access and take your evaluation skills to the next level.
